Subsea 7
Yates Construction provided design-build services for the Spool Base Dock Facility for Subsea 7 in Port Isabel, Texas. This project included dredging approximately 85,000 cubic yards of material, cutting a slip, and disposing of dredged material in an area adjacent to the property operated by Port Isabel. The slip accommodates 600-foot-long ships with a 33-foot draft. The dock features a mooring and fendering system designed to restrain vessels during pipe spooling operations. Five mooring bollards were also placed, ranging from 50- to 75-ton capacity with a loading capacity capable of supporting a 200-ton crane. The facility loads pipe onto ships in 4,000-foot lengths, which are welded together on-site and spooled to avoid welding at sea.
