Yates Construction provided general construction services for the Mississippi Power Operations Center. The facility functions as an operations center for electrical transmission and distribution systems and has a Tier II data center with Tier III components and 86,000 SF of white space. The operations complex is designed to withstand 200-mile-per-hour winds and operate independently of public utilities for up to three days. It has emergency generators, redundant HVAC equipment, storage tanks, and pumps for domestic, fire, and water systems. The facility also includes sleeping and shower facilities that support an around-the-clock operating staff.
