We Make It Possible
Hollywood Hard Rock
Seminole Gaming Authority
The ambitiously designed, guitar-shaped hotel is a symbol of the client and a triumph of modern building techniques.
There Are Some Deadlines You Cannot Move
It was 2018, and the design was only about 60% complete when Seminole Gaming publicly announced the October 2019 completion date. This announcement intrinsically tied the project to the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami, making it essential that the hotel construction and casino renovation be completed well before then.
A Unique Challenge of the Guitar Shape
The structure's overall shape required absolute precision of the embeds for the slab edges to accommodate the curtain wall installation, which was possible thanks to technological innovations like 3D modeling. The concrete column formwork was atypical, with few repetitions, as most uniquely designed structures are.
Leveraging Advanced Technologies
90% of the details were finalized in virtual reality (VR), allowing the client to determine guest room layouts during preconstruction. VR was also integral in designing the curtain LED layout, allowing us to plan how to incorporate electrical systems into thin slabs.
A Project of this Complexity Would Not Have Been Possible 10–15 Years Ago
Creating a Dreamlike Guest Experience
Like any Hard Rock Hotel, it did not just need comfortable sleeping accommodations but entertainment that lives up to its name.
The 13.5 acre pool complex boasts a lagoon nearly three football fields long and a beach made from Florida sand to match.
The expansion included nearly 60,000 SF of retail and restaurant space and the reconstruction of the 7,000-seat concert venue, which continues to attract the biggest names in entertainment.
Remained Operational Throughout Renovation
The casino had to accommodate a 24/7 schedule while renovations were underway.
We performed the renovation in eight sections, diverting foot traffic with walls previewing how the newly renovated area would look.
The client saw ahead of time exactly what the guest experience would look like via 3D animations.
153 Guitars Tall
The construction scope included 13 projects within one mega-project, including the world’s first guitar-shaped hotel. The first-of-its-kind 450-foot hotel tower had no repetitive floors and other unique design elements. As a result of the meticulous yet efficient preconstruction planning, it took just over nine months and one week from pouring the pile caps to topping off the 36-floor tower.
The hotel hosted several high-profile events leading up to the Super Bowl, and it has since become an iconic structural landmark synonymous with the Hard Rock brand.
